Accessibility statement
Garden Dream should be usable by every gardener — including people using a screen reader, driving the site entirely from the keyboard, enlarging text, turning animation down, or needing strong colour contrast. This page sets out what we aim for, where we actually stand, and what still falls short.
The standard we aim for
We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the standard referenced by EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act.
Conformance status
This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA. The public side — the weather tool, location pages, plant disease database, planting calendar and the information and legal pages — meets Level AA across everything covered by our latest review. The exceptions are listed below.
What is built in
- Full keyboard operation, with a visible focus ring on every interactive element.
- A "skip to content" link on every page, plus proper landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer).
- Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text and interface components).
- The weather tabs behave as real ARIA tabs — arrow keys, Home and End move between sections.
- Accessible names on icon-only buttons, search fields and password visibility toggles.
- Status messages — search results, errors, forecast loading — are announced to screen readers.
- The system "reduce motion" setting is respected: pulsing cards and the animated weather scene stop.
- The animated weather scene can also be paused by hand.
- Content stays readable at 200% zoom and with an enlarged browser font size.
- The page language (English or Polish) is declared and matches the URL.
- Nothing you can read requires an account — forecast, diseases and calendars are open to everyone.
Known limitations
- The garden designer (behind sign-in) is a drag-and-drop canvas and is not yet fully keyboard-operable. Improving it is on our roadmap.
- The admin area has not been through a full audit; it is used only by the site's own team.
- Weather maps use third-party tiles (Leaflet, RainViewer). The same information is available as text and charts on the other tabs.
- Charts carry labels and written summaries, but do not yet offer a full table alternative.
- The animated weather scene is decorative — every value it illustrates is also written out beside it.
- Some deeper screens in the app are not fully translated into Polish yet and appear in English.
How we assessed this
Self-assessment carried out on 2026-08-16: an automated axe-core audit across representative public pages, a contrast measurement of every text colour against its real rendered background, and a manual keyboard pass through the site. We have not yet commissioned an external audit.
Browser and assistive-technology compatibility
The site is built for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, together with the screen readers built into those platforms. Older browsers may work but are not tested.
Hit a barrier? Tell us
If something is unreadable, unreachable by keyboard, or announced wrongly by a screen reader, telling us is the fastest way to get it fixed. Email admin@gardendream.pro and, if you can, include the page address, the browser you were using and any assistive technology. We aim to reply within 5 working days. If you need a particular piece of information in another format, ask and we will provide it.
